John McCain recently did an interview on the Ellen DeGeneres show and their exchange about gay marriage was civil but it still seems sort of weird. Did McCain really want to be there? Probably. However, I don't think this would actually help his image among viewers of that show. I don't know. Is it so much of a reach for him to be on that show when her viewers largely support her words and upcoming ceremony? To me, it's like McCain's position is like a bump in a road that the audience couldn't wait to get over.
